Opportunities To Serve This Holiday
This week, the first week of Advent, provides you with three opportunities to step away from the hustle and bustle of the season and serve as Jesus did.
This Saturday, join us in working at a soup kitchen at the First UM Church’s First Food and Friends feeding program. It is located on Baum Blvd, near Shadyside Hospital across from Panera. Arrive around 8:45-9:00. No experience needed just come ready to work.
On Sunday, you can help those less fortunate by
- Donating to the Food Bank with canned goods (NO GLASS) or paper products such as toilet paper, Kleenex, diapers, paper towels. Just place in bin at the bottom of steps
-
Buying some items for our Blessing Bags and staying after church to make the bags (takes about 20 minutes at the most). We need health products such as soaps, hand sanitizers, small packaged foods such as crackers, power bars, canned chicken or tuna, small packs of Kleenex, etc. You could also stop at a Dollar Store and purchase some hats, gloves, or hand warmers to add in.
And remember to bring back your gift for the angel tree this week, too.
