      • 12 pm – 3 pm  Fall Game Day at Spencer – Come and play a “game of your choice”, eat a nice lunch and have a chance at winning some great prizes.  Tickets are $12. Please call Spencer Church office for tickets at 412-881-4000.

      This organization is a Pittsburgh-based group started by Jon Jackson in 2010, when he was ten years old.  He recognized a homeless person on the street and wanted to help.

      This group directly delivers backpacks of items similar to our Blessing Bags, along with clothing, sleeping bags, gift cards for McDonald’s and Subway.

      We have decided to support this effort because many of our church members cannot actually go out into the community to hand out these essentials.

      We will NOT collect and store clothing or sleeping bags at the church.

      If you have these items to donate, see keepyinzwarm.com for drop of sites at Guardian Storage that are close by.

      Monetary donations can be given through the website as well.  All items must be clean and washed!

      We will be treating ourselves to pizza and go into the Sanctuary to watch “God’s Not Dead”  (a Christian based movie) on the big screen.

      WHAT:  A day of fellowship, fun, worship, exploring and food

      WHERE:  Jumonville Retreat Center, Hopwood, PA

      WHO:  People of the South Hills Partnership of United Methodist Churches

      COST:  $10.00 for dinner  and $12.00 for bus transportation

      12:00 pm

      • Gather in Captain Webb for a light lunch

      1:00 – 3:30 pm 

      • Spend the afternoon exploring the grounds; walking or driving to the cross
      • Playing on the athletic fields (softball, volleyball, tennis, basketball)
      • Visiting the museum highlighting the role Jumonville played in the French and Indian War; it’s time as a civil war orphanage; its history as a Training Center and now a retreat center

      4:00 pm

      • Vespers in the Green Cathedral (transportation as needed)

      5:00 pm

      • Dinner in the Dining Hall

      7:00 pm

      • Head back to Pittsburgh

      A bus will be available for those wishing to travel together.  The bus will pick up folks at Carnegie UMC at 9:00 am and then at Fairhaven UMC at 9:30 am.  The cost is $12.00. [Not charge if you are using your own vehicle].

      Snacks and cold drinks will be available during the day at Captains Webb.  Feel free to bring something to share.
